High School Resources Toolkit

City Colleges supports high school students in their educational goals, whether they want to earn an associates degree, transfer to a four-year institution, or earn a certificate allowing them to immediately enter the workforce.

Here, you will find information on the Star Scholarship, which offers free tuition and books to qualifying Chicago Public Schools students. You will also find resources on our Early College program and our transfer partnerships with various colleges and universities, including Arizona State University, Illinois Institute of Technology, Loyola University, Northwestern University, School of the Art Institute, The University of Chicago, and many more. Finally, you’ll find information for undocumented students in English and Spanish, with more languages to come.

City Colleges of Chicago offers comprehensive degree and certificate programs that can help students become career-ready in as little as one semester or transfer to a four-year institution. Adult Education Toolkit

Resources for current and prospective GED/HiSET and ESL students.

City Colleges offers free English as a Second Language (ESL) and high school equivalency (GED® and HiSET® preparation) classes for adults, reducing the financial burden of entering the city’s workforce. Students in these courses are eligible to participate in the City Colleges Career Bridge and Gateway programs.

The Career Bridge program lets students learn about a specific career (and, in some cases, earn a professional certificate allowing them to immediately enter the workforce) while preparing for the GED® or HiSET® exams.

The Gateway program allows Career Bridge completers and other eligible Adult Education students to transition to certificate and degree programs at a reduced tuition rate.

Early College Toolkit

Resources, help guides, and forms for those interested in the Early College program.

Join the Early College program to enroll in college-level courses while still in high school, reducing both the time and the money needed to earn a college degree.

The Early College program offers two ways for you to earn college credit: dual credit and dual enrollment. High school juniors and seniors who are at least 16 years old are eligible to participate. If you are younger than 16 and want to participate in Early College, you must get approval from the college president or vice president of your desired City Colleges location.

City Colleges of Chicago is a system of seven community colleges and five satellite locations serving the 77 neighborhoods of the city. Our goal is to promote upward mobility and economic prosperity among Chicago’s many residents. The types of people we serve include:
